How is the Law Foundation administered?
The Law Foundation is administered by a Board
of Governors that is responsible for making all
decisions concerning grants. The Board has up to nine
volunteer members.
The Board is supported by an Executive
Director and an Executive Assistant.
Who appoints the Board of Governors?
The Governor in Council (effectively the
provincial Cabinet) appoints five members, and
the Council of the Nova Scotia Barristers'
Society appoints four members. The Chair is
appointed by the Governor in Council upon the
joint recommendation of the Attorney General and
the Council of the Nova Scotia Barristers'
Society.
How long do Members serve on the Board?
Members of the
Board are appointed for two years, and their
terms continue until a successor is appointed.
